Atlantik Elektronik GmbH - Professional Competence in GSM-R

Atlantik Elektronik GmbH enables many applications with wireless connection via GSM-R

Railway operators across the world are investing significant budgets in rolling out GSM-R infrastructure and upgrading its telecommunications systems. The main target is to improve the security, reliability and safety of railway operational services. Interoperability and compatibility across borders with international traffic are the key success factors.

One of Atlantik Elektronik GmbH?s special offering is a GSM-Rail GPRS Gateway with full TCP/IP and VPN functionality. The GSM-Rail gateway fulfils industrial requirements like an extended temperature range, worldwide approvals, long term availability and 5 year warranty.

The GSM-R Gateway DC-WAN-R302 (Datasheet DC WAN-R302) , especially created by Atlantik Elektronik GmbH together with Digi International and Triorail, enables many value-adding services, such as:

- maintenance data to be transmitted to the depot in real-time to reduce idle time

- monitoring information from sensors along the tracks to be transmitted to a central management server

- providing travel information to passengers at railway stations and on board trains

- onboard ticket machines can serve enhanced efficiency and convenience

- providing tracking & tracing information to freight customers

GSM-R(ail) is a specially designed GSM wireless communication system adapted to meet the specific needs of railroad companies, and has been accepted as the standard railroad communications system throughout Europe. In addition to the standard GSM capabilities, GSM-R helps railroad operators to undertake specific tasks (guard/conductor to driver communication, shunting, cross boarder communication, instant communications between train and station staff) on networks that may extend for thousand of miles and on trains that are travelling at high speeds.

The Atlantik Elektonik GmbH GSM-R portfolio includes modems (Europe and China versions) and terminals (RS232 or USB) manufactured by Triorail, GSM-R router (Digi International) and antennas (Panorama antennas) GSM-R portfolio

The next generation GSM-R modem for LTE is already on its way, first demos have been shown at the last "InnoTrans"-exihibiton in Berlin, November 2010.
